“I may not be there yet, but I’m closer than I was yesterday.”
Progress, progress, progress. It’s easy to overlook the progress you’ve made, when you’re focused on where you want to be. I often have to remind myself to stop reflect, and remember.
Have you ever took a step back to reflect on how far you’ve come? And how much you have changed over the years for the better? Think about the different ways of your thinking that has improved or the different habits that you’ve improved over time. It’s so easy to get discouraged because you are not where you want to be but, at least you’re not where you use to be.
Celebrate the small steps forward because they will help you realize exactly where you are. On yesterday I celebrated my second born third birthday and it was a blast. We watched movies the night before, we made a big breakfast that morning, barbecued, had splash time in the water and sang happy birthday at the end of the day. The look on her face of how happy she was spoke volumes to me. As I reflected about celebrating this milestone age in her life it made me think of how important it is to celebrate the small steps forward we make in our daily lives and how big of an impact it can have in helping us shift and transition through each season of life.
I want to encourage you to write down some of the steps forward you’ve recently made. Give yourself a pat on the back because you are really doing a great job. You put a lot of time and energy to get to where you are, you sacrificed a lot of things, turned down opportunities, changed mindsets and more. Change is not easy, so the fact that you are making progress is powerful. I accomplished one of my goals for this year which was purchasing my website, and yesterday I finished my first book for the year, “Imagine Big” by Terri Foy. It took me four months to finish but I’m glad I did because it brought me one step closer to reaching my next goal which is to read 6 books for the year. I’ve had a lot of setbacks in the beginning of the year which cause me to get behind but I didn’t quit. I’ve switched up my night time routine so that I will be on track to reading and accomplishing my goal by the end of the year. Just taking the time to celebrate those small things brought so much joy to my heart. Forward is forward no matter how fast or slow.
I just want to encourage you to keep moving forward and celebrating the small things. We are in a season of life where stress levels are high and many people are on edge because of COVID-19 but this won’t last forever. Don’t give up because of how things may look around you, focus, take a deep breath and celebrate where you are. Today is a new day, God woke you up this morning. You are still alive, you are taking time to read this post, you have the ability to think, process, create, heal, etc. So much to be thankful for and so much to celebrate. I hope this encouraged you today. Thanks for reading. Please comment below would love to hear your thoughts on this.
