Grow, Adapt and Find Your Rhythm

“Every day the clock resets. Your wins don’t matter. Your failures don’t matter. Don’t stress on what was, fight for what could be.“

 -Sean Higgins

Have you ever felt like you were fighting a never ending battle? You face obstacle after obstacle but you believe in what you’re fighting for so much, that you’re willing to continue the battle because you know something greater is on the other side. It’s a battle that requires you to fight to maintain peace mentally, emotionally and spiritually. That’s what this year has felt like for me, a never ending battle. One of the things I like about this battle is that it’s keeping me at a place where I’m so uncomfortable and that lack of comfort is producing some major transformation in me.

Who would have ever thought that the year 2020 would be such a life altering year, where every part of what use to be normal now feels like a fairytale. At times you look back and reminisce of how things were just a year ago or even months ago and can’t even process the magnitude of how much things have changed. Adjusting to change at a rapid pace is challenging and will cause you to have to think outside of the box. That thinking will produce in you the reality that what worked for you in one season of your life, may not work in this current season. Or what is working for everyone else may not necessarily work for you.

Processing this season, discovering what works, and finding rhythms, is what has kept me going in this season. Giving myself time to process what’s going on around me gives me the opportunity to go deeper and think things through. Have you ever experienced a pandemic in your lifetime? If not, how are you processing everything that going on? How do you feel? What do you feel like you need to help you get through this time? These are all legemit questions to ask yourself, to help you process this time. For me this often feels like a dream, so I write down how I feel to help me process this reality. I write down the good and the bad ways life has changed. Taking time to process helps me to give myself room to grow through a season like this because this is something I’ve never experienced. When I take time to understand how life has change it helps me to discover how I need to adjust and adapt.

In order to discover what works, you have to search and test things out. Last week was the first week back to school for my oldest daughter. I registered her, picked up all her supplies from school and did everything I could to make sure she was ready. I was hesitant to do the virtual option because I knew it would be difficult to do with my two other kids along with other things I have to do but I gave it a try and its safe to say that I was right. I knew homeschool was the option I needed to go with because I felt like God put it on my heart I just needed to gain the courage to step out and do it. Once I discovered what was best for my family and I the adjustments were made and now the homeschooling journey begins. It took me taking action, trying things out, and talking with people who are currently homeschooling to help me discover what was best and how to get started.

Lastly, finding rhythms is what has been helping things to flow a lot smoother for me in this season. Rhythms and routines give me a picture of what to look forward to throughout the day. Everyday isn’t perfect but when I know what to expect it helps me to execute the little daily goals that I have for my kids and I. Creating rhythms and being consistent can produce beautiful results overtime. One of the things I look forward to doing with homeschool is teaching my kids daily life skills which are a huge part of our daily rhythms and one of my biggest passions.

Taking time to grow, adapt and find rhythms in this season has been a game changer for me. I want to encourage you to take time to find your rhythms and give yourself room to grow, adapt and process this season. It’s ok to not be ok all the time, this is a season of life that you may have never experienced. Give yourself time to process how you feel and discover what you need to be your best self in this season. You are not alone in how you feel and what you are experiencing. Things maybe difficult at times but troubles don’t last always. Remember this is only a chapter of life not the full story. Better days are coming. Thanks for reading, I hope this encourages you.

How has this season of life challenged you to grow? How are you adapting to so much change? Comment below I would love to hear your story.

“Everyday is a potential seed that can grow into something beautiful.”

James 1:3-4 For you know that when your faith has been tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

  1. Love this topic!! This season has been teaching me to dig deep and confidently walk in who I really am! It’s been a challenge as I have learned to trust God in a whole new way. It’s uncomfortable but I trust that Gods voice will be the loudest and I too have been finding a rhythm that allows me to pray more and grow through the changes as they occur. When normally i would shriek back in fear and kind of become numb to what’s happening but that has changed and I am so thankful!

    1. That is so awesome to hear! I love how you stated letting Gods voice be the loudest because as you do that you will be able to walk in the full confidence of who He’s called you to be. Thats not always easy to do in a challenging season of life but its so good to see how you are staying on guard and not allowing fear to take over. I also love how you are finding your rhythms and growing close to God I think that’s so important. Keep up the amazing work!
