Allow Yourself Room to Grow

“I am learning everyday to allow the space to where I am and where I want to be, inspire me not terrify me.”- Tracee Ellis Ross

Have you ever put forward your greatest effort at accomplishing something, but deep down inside you still felt it wasn’t good enough? We can sometimes be our own toughest coach and greatest critic.

We tend to push ourselves to unreasonable limits; instead of taking things one step at a time.  We often rush our process, and when things don’t happen the way we would  like, we get frustrated with life. Why is it that we are so hard on ourselves?

Is it because of the constant demands of life that are weighing down on us? Is it the social pressure that we face? Is it the desire to always be ahead? For whatever reason it may be we must give ourselves room to grow through life, so we don’t become overwhelmed with life.

When I was younger growth was so exciting and my desire for change was constant. As I grew older,  growth became more of a challenge for me, and I quickly realized my need to be intentional about developing myself. People often fall into this growth gap and get lost in the trenches of life. They are no longer in an environment that requires growth, and they fail to be intentional and create their own environment.

Have you ever wondered why growth becomes so hard as we get older? Is it because we have so many other things grabbing our attention?

“You will either step forward into growth, or you will step backward into safety.”- Abraham Maslow

Every season of our life requires growth. Life is constantly changing. We are always meeting new people, facing new challenges, starting new careers and experiences new things.  In order to allow ourselves room to grow we must be okay with imperfection.

Life will never be perfect. Take a second and think about that. How does that make you feel? Does that lift the weight that you’ve been carrying?

There will be moments where we mess up, fall short and times we wish we can start over again. These things are all apart of life. When we allow ourselves room to grow, and give ourselves permission to be human we are more likely to take risk and enjoy life. What’s the one thing you desire to do, that you haven’t yet done? What’s holding you back?

When we allow ourselves room to grow it shows our level of humility, because we realize that we don’t have it all together. It takes true humility to recognize our need for change and do what it takes to make those adjustments.

Take time to to reflect on where you are and give yourself room to grow. Know that growth is a process and some of our greatest mistakes can lead to our greatest growth.

“Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.” -Napoleon Hill
