“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.” — John Pierpont Morgan
Have you ever started something that brought so much momentum and energy to your life, than all of sudden life happened? We all experience moments in our lives where we sometimes get off track or lose our way. We allow all that life is throwing at us to make us lose our focus. Starting something the first time maybe easy, but restarting something that you’ve already started and didn’t finish requires a little more effort and motivation.
Imagine if life had a reset button, how often would you push the button? Would you even take the time to think before you push the button? If life had a reset button most of us would push the button over and over again. We would press reset every time life didn’t measure up to our expectations or every time we get to a moment where we feel like quitting.
What if we really do have the power to reset and start again at any given moment we choose? We may not have a physical button but we do have the willpower to change everything and start again.
The world is round and the place which may seem like the end may also be the beginning.- Ivy Baker Priest
Starting over may not be easy but it plays a big part in us reaching the destination we desire. So, how do we start again:
1.) Reflect
Reflection gives us the opportunity to understand where we are, where we’ve been and where we want to go. Sometimes just taking the time to look back can really give us a new perspective on all the opportunity that lies ahead. It also gives us a chance to see how much we have progressed in life and helps us to remain hopeful about whats to come. Taking time to reflect helps us to understand that at any given moment things can change. Think about a time in your life where you felt stuck? What changes did you make? How did you overcome? How did that moment change your life for the better?
2.) Remember
Sometimes we just have to stop and remember the dreams and the goals that are in our heart. Remember the things that you just can’t stop thinking about. When we keep what we desire at the forefront of our minds it gives us a greater reason to start again, because we know that in order to reach those things we have to make changes. When I think about the dreams in my heart and the goals I have for this year, it gives me a reason to keep going even when things are difficult because I know that if I quit I will never see those dreams come to past. If I quit it will not only have an impact on my life but also on the lives of generations to come after me. My desire is to leave a legacy for my children’s , children where because I followed through and didn’t give up on my dream they would have the courage to do the same.
3.) Reset
Don’t ever be afraid to reset and start over again. Sometimes the end of something is an opportunity for a new and greater beginning. Restarting gives us a chance to learn and grow from our mistakes. When we reset we gain a new a greater perspective about life. Resetting has a way of awakening new dreams and desires in our heart and it sometimes gives us an opportunity to try a different path, one that we may have not noticed at first.
“If you have made mistakes, even serious ones, there is always another chance for you. What we call failure is not the falling down, but the staying down.” — Mary Pickford
Don’t ever be afraid to start again, we only get one life don’t waste it wishing you had the chance to start over. Take the opportunity today and reset. Create a new chapter and write your story the way you’ve always dream of.
Reflect, Remember and Reset great things are ahead for you.
