
“Sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination.”
Everyone has a story and a big picture of what they desire their lives to look like. Although our journeys are all different they are each unique to the purpose and path we choose. Sometimes we don’t realize the power that we have in building the life we want to see. The choices we make and the habits we embrace everyday plays a huge part in it all. Some of what we experience along the journey can cause us to lose sight of our big picture and distract us to the point where we are no longer dictating our path.
We are allowing everyday life and responsibilities to consume is to the point that we are no longer fighting for the big picture that we’ve always dreamed of. So, how do we continue to dictate the pace of our journey and not get lost in the process?
1. Discipline
“Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most” Its all about having priorities and keeping them. What we do everyday matters, so when we choose to be disciplined with the habits that are bringing us closer to our goals we keep ourselves on the path of arriving at our big picture destination closer to our desirable time.
2. Determination
“Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.” Our level of determination plays a huge part in us reaching our goals. There will be times when your life looks nothing like the big picture you have in your mind and the process may temp you to give up. You have to be determined to keep going no matter what happens.
3. Dedication
“With hard work and dedication, anything is possible.” In order to dictate the pace of our journey we must be dedicated and committed to following through on our goals. When we are truly dedicated to something we don’t look to make excuses because we are determined to see results. If we truly want to see the big picture we have to stay dedicated to the decision we made to go after our dreams no matter what happens.
I just want to challenge you to be disciplined, determined and dedicated to reaching your goals. Don’t allow what you experience in the process to keep you distracted and off track. Shift your focus and start again if you have too. Always remember that you have the power to dictate the pace of your own journey. What you do everyday matters.
