“Whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”- MLK

As time goes by it’s easy to lose sight of those goals we set at the beginning of the year. We no longer have the excitement and newness of the new year to motivate us, so we are constantly looking at the results of our progress. As we look at the results and progress we have made we are either encouraged or very discouraged. Whatever the results may look like for you, the goal should always be to keep moving forward.

Sometimes those goals we desire to reach seem impossible due to the many responsibilities and roles we constantly play in life. Accomplishing anything great will never be easy and many times when we don’t see the results we desire we tend to quit and give up on reaching those goals prematurely. But, think about what would happen if we focused on making progress one step at a time towards our goals, instead of focusing on the big picture results.

“A little progress every day adds up to big results.”

Its easy to get discouraged by looking at the big picture of what we desire, when the details of our lives seem to not at all match up. But, if we focus on taking small steps towards our goals each day, things will begin to change.

How to make progress each day:

1. Set small goals

Setting small goals each day can really help us to stay on track towards reaching our bigger goals. If I have a goal that seems like a level 10 and I am currently at a level 1, It would be discouraging thinking about the work it would take to reach a level 10. But, if I focus instead on making progress to reach a level 2, I would feel motivated to put in the work to reach the goal. This shows the value of taking things one step at a time and focus on executing small goals first in order to reach our bigger goals.

2. Focus

It’s hard to focus on a big goal when you have so many small parts to execute. Imagine what would happened if I focused all my time and energy on completing the small goals everyday? Think about how less stressful things would be. Our ability to focus is so powerful because it really plays a huge role in us executing the small goals we set everyday.

3. Review progress

Never be afraid to look back and reflect on the progress you’ve made. When we have an understanding of the progress we have made we can have greater insight on the possibilities that are ahead. We should celebrate our progress because it can motivate us in push through the tough times so that we can reach our goals.

Progress is powerful. Think about the areas of your life where you’ve made great progress over the years. There is so much more in store for us as we focus on taking things one step at a time and one day at a time. Progress is not always easy to see in the beginning but if we stay focus and continue moving forward, overtime we will see results.
