“It’s gonna get hard before it gets easier. But it will get better, you just gotta make it through the hard stuff first.”
In the journey towards anything great you will run into some rough patches. Sometimes tough times will have you questioning what you really desire. If you truly know what you want in the beginning, you must also seek to understand that it won’t come without a fight. It’s like climbing up a hill, if you want to make it to the top you will have to fight through the resistance and push to the top.
One thing that will help you when times are hard is to always remember the end goal. Sometimes it’s having that clear picture of the end that motives you to keep pushing forward when everything seems to be going against you. I remember ten years ago, going through a one day boot camp that was filled with all kind of obstacle courses. Before that experience I hadn’t worked out a day in my life. While in the process and through all the physical pain I was experiencing the only thing I could think about was finishing and being able to rest afterwards.
Having that end goal in mind is what helped me to push through the moments when I wanted to quit. After finishing, I felt such a peace and the feeling that I could really accomplish anything I put my mind to. Many times in life we will face hard things, but just because something is hard doesn’t mean it’s impossible to overcome. When you truly determine in your mind to finish something your mind will begin to unlock the power and ability to do it.
Sometimes our ability to push through is really more mental than anything. My husband shared with me his experience in a recent mud 5k race that he ran and he talked about the obstacles that he had to conquer. He made the comment of how most of it was mental because of you look at the obstacles before you they sometimes look intimidating and impossible but if you just change the way you think about it and make up in your mind that “I can do this.” What’s before you is a lot easier than you think.
I noticed how true that statement is because of many of the things I face in my own personal life. When things seem impossible I realize that I just have to change the way I think about certain things and once my thinking is changed, things are a lot easier than what I first thought in the beginning.
My encouragement to you today, is don’t allow the obstacle you are currently facing to discourage you. Whatever you want is possible, push past the doubt and visualize yourself finishing. “Whatever you want is truly possible you just have to push past the hard stuff first.”
Thanks for reading! I hope this encourages you today.
