Imagine how life would look if all of our dreams and desires could happen instantly. How different would life be? Would you still have the same drive and passion to work hard to carry out your dream? Or would you become comfortable and settle because what you’ve worked so hard for has already happened?
Sometimes we don’t realize the protection that comes with things not happening instantly. There are often times parts of our lives where we still need growth and development in order to become the person who can carry out the dreams that God has place inside of us. Although it would be great for things to happen instantly sometimes, time is a blessing and if we stay dedicated to the process we will see the things we’ve been working so hard for become a reality. Think about a tree, what would happen if we planted the seed and it instantly grew. Would the tree be fully rooted and strong enough to last for years or would it only stand in place for a moment and collapse under pressure because it didn’t have time to develop deep roots and grow overtime?
If that scenario were to happen, It would probably only stand for a moment because it didn’t go through the process of developing and becoming strong enough to operate at it’s full capacity. It’s the same with life, nothing great happens overnight. Things take time! In order to see our dreams come to past we have to stay dedicated to the process and put in the work to see them happen. The word dedicate means to devote (time, effort, or oneself) to a particular task or purpose. To devote means to give all or a large part of one’s time or resources to (a person, activity, or cause). The key to dedication is time. Things will take time, so make peace with that and do whatever you can to grow as you are going through the process.
My fitness journey has taught me a lot about dedication because I have been able to see results with time. These results didn’t come without dedication and commitment to the process. This health journey is something I work at everyday. Eating the right foods, meal prepping , exercising five days a week, drinking enough water and working my fitness plan. This journey hasn’t been easy and there are some days I have failed but I never gave up on moving forward and working the process even when I have fallen short. I realize that this process is a marathon and not a spirit and that results happen overtime. Things will not always be perfect in the process but we have to be determined that no matter what happens we will keep moving forward. Some of the things that have helped me to stay dedicated to this process includes:
1. Keeping the end goal in mind
Don’t ever forget why you are doing what you are doing. Think about it often and always remember the end goal. Keep your why always in the front of your mind and let it be what drives your forward.
2. Remembering that hard work pays off
Whatever time, effort and hard work you invest, you will get a return on. Keep working hard even when you don’t see instant results overtime you will see results.
3. Focusing on my everyday effort
Find something that you can do everyday to help you move closer to accomplishing your goals. Take baby steps and stay consistent. What you do everyday builds overtime.
I want to encourage you to stay dedicated to the process and don’t give up on your dreams. Don’t allow life to steal the sparkle the once burned in your eyes with expectation for the future. Keep working hard and overtime things will fall into place. Don’t let your current season steal the shine of the seasons of life to come. Thanks for reading! I hope this encourages you.
