“We must always change, renew, and rejuvenate ourselves; otherwise, we harden.” —Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Sometimes you never know what you need until life forces you to take a step back and listen. The weight of everyday life and responsibilities can begin to take a toll on you, if you don’t take time to stop and get refreshed, refocused and recharged. Taking a step back from the busyness of our lives can help us gain more clarity and feel more in tune with the season of life we are in. When we understand the season of life we are in, we are better able to navigate and change through the season.
There is nothing like going through life feeling overwhelmed and stressed, and at any moment feeling like you want to give up. We’ve all been to that place at some point in our lives and the roller coaster of emotions we experience, makes it impossible to think clearly. Taking a step back to get refreshed, refocused and recharged gives us the opportunity to connect with our emotions and gain a great understanding of exactly what we need at the time.
“When you are feeling lost reconnect to your why.”
Why do we need time to refresh, refocus and restart:
Refresh: To be refreshed means to give new strength or energy. We need to experience newness and refreshing in order to keep us motivated through life. What’s something that helps you feel refreshed? How often do you take time to get refreshed? When we don’t allow ourselves to be refreshed we experience burnout.
Refocus: To refocus means to adjust our focus. It’s easy to lose focus in the busyness of our everyday life. It’s so important that we take time to refocus throughout our day and week so that we can stay on track in completing our goals.
Restart: To start again. The beautiful thing about life is that it gives us so many opportunities to start again. Starting over may not always be the most exciting thing to do but it maybe exactly what we need to help us get to the place we need to be.
I just want to encourage you to take some time in your day or week to step back and get refreshed, refocused and restart. Don’t allow yourself to get to the point where you feel overwhelmed and ready to give up. Take breaks when you need to, and understand that it’s ok to not be okay.
