“It’s going to get harder before it gets easier. But it will get better. You just gotta make it through the hard stuff first.”

Have you ever experienced a time in your life where everything seemed to be going great, than all of a sudden things start to change? Life happened and suddenly you find yourself trying to pick up the pieces and start again. Sometimes we experience seasons of our lives where we may not understand what’s taking places in that moment, but someday we will.

How do we push through in moments of when things seem to be tough and we feel like giving up? How do we keep our heads above water when life circumstances makes it seem as if we are drowning?

“When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.”

Tips on how to keep going:

1. Remember the it’s only temporary

What you are going through is temporary. Temporary means lasting for only a limited period of time; not permanent. What you are going through will end. Sometimes you have to adjust your focus on the things that are going right and remember that at any moment things can change. You can find comfort in the fact that, “this too shall pass.”

2. Reflect on how far you’ve come

It’s important to sit back on reflect on how far you’ve come. You’ve overcome so many things and sometimes a small moment of defeat can make you forget what you’ve gone through and overcame. So take time to remember, if you’ve gotten this far in your journey you can keep going. Reflection gives you a sense of hope when things seem hopeless.

3. Surround yourself with positive people

Who you surround yourself with matters more than you know. Surround yourself with people who challenge and believe in you as much as you believe in yourself. Be mindful and selective of the people you keep close because not everyone who is close to you will want the best for you. Some people will only cheer you on as long as you’re not doing better than them. It’s sad that the times we are living in people have a perspective that success is limited, when that isn’t the case at all. Anyone can be successful if they are willing to put in the work. One persons success will never hinder another persons ability to be successful.  There are billions of people in this world and we all have special and unique things to offer without overwhelming the same groups of people. Find friends who are willing to dream and plan with you, friends that help your discover things you didn’t even realize you had.

I just want to encourage you that when things get tough remember it’s only temporary, take time to reflect and get around people that will encourage you through.  Keep going and don’t give up. You’ve come to far to turn back.
