“It is never too late to be what you might have been.”

-George Eliot

Have you ever felt like it was too late to start working towards something you’ve been thinking about for a long time? Maybe you’ve had a certain plan or goal and things didn’t turn out the way you expected. Where do you go from there? How do you motivate yourself to start again? How do you motivate yourself to continue to dream and push towards your goals despite your shortcomings? Do you just give up on doing the things you said you would, or do you figure out a way to push forward and make it happen?

It’s never too late to start again! Learning to adjust in constantly changing world is essential to truly making things happen. This year has constantly challenged me to adjust in ways I would have never imagined and it’s taught me the importance of focus, intentionality, and awareness. Despite all that I’ve faced this year I still think often about the goals I set at the beginning of this year. It’s easy to get towards the end of the year and feel like things are over and you’ll just have to start again next year, but why not just start now? Everyday is a new day and a new opportunity to start fresh. Last week I talked about my health goal for this year and what a challenge it is to sacrifice so much to see the results I desire. Although it’s been challenging it been so good because it forces me to push myself beyond my comfort zone.

Last week I challenged myself to do this seven minute workout for seven days by Lucy Wyndham-Read, on top of my already three day, forty five minute workout, and I have truly noticed the results. There where days where I was tired and I didn’t want to workout but I did it anyway. As a result of pushing myself and continuing to eat healthier i’ve lost an extra pound and a half towards my weight goal for this year. What this week and example has taught me was the importance of pushing myself beyond my limits. There are so many thing you can reach if you truly push beyond your limits. The process maybe uncomfortable and it may require a lot of sacrifice but the end results makes it worth it.

These are some tips that helped me to push forward this week

  1. Focus

“Where your focus goes energy flows.” As I pushed forward this week I challenged myself to focus on my goal and take steps forward, one step at a time. I thought about the little things I could do everyday to help me reach my goals such as drinking enough water, eating healthy and walking so that I could have enough energy to complete my daily workouts.

  1. Intentionality

Every night and some mornings I created space and times to complete my workouts. Being intentional about my workout times helped to create a rhythm for my week.

  1. Awareness

I was able to measure my progress for the week by weighing myself every two days and also by seeing the calories I burned through monitoring on my Apple Watch. When I am aware of where I am and the progress I’ve made this motivates me to push forward.

Focus, intentionality and awareness can help you push forward in truly making things happen. It is never too late to step out and start on what’s been in your heart. It’s easy to allow the problems and circumstances of everyday life to get in the way of the very things you need to continually motivate you through life. Don’t give up on your dreams! Some seasons may be harder than others but remind yourself that you can do hard things. Don’t allow the obstacles you face to cause you to lose that sparkle in your eyes, that represents the things you desire so much. Focus on the controllable, start again if you have to and push yourself to make it happen. Dreams do come true if you continually move forward and put in the work. Don’t stop when things get hard, push yourself forward!

Thanks so much for reading! I hope this encouraged you. What’s one thing you want to see happen soon? What motivates you to push forward? Comment below, I would love to hear your story.

  1. I have to push myself to workout too. I have the My Fitness Pal app but I’ll admit I haven’t used it in a couple weeks…but you’re right, seeing the numbers (calories burned/calorie intake) really does help and can be encouraging when you the number on the scale go down. 🙂

    Great tips Curtshandra!
