“Every task, goal, race and year comes to an end…therefore, make it a habit to FINISH STRONG.”

— Gary Ryan Blair

It’s not how you start something that leaves a mark on the future it’s how you finish. Think about a time when you set a goal and was successful at reaching it. How did it make you feel? Was all the sacrifice and hard work you put in worth it? The process between starting and finishing may have been rocky, but it doesn’t compare to the joy you feel when you finish something you set out to do.

This year has been a year of many unexpected challenges but it doesn’t have to end in disappointment. Being able to start where you are really makes a difference in your ability to finish this year off strong. What’s one thing you want to achieve before the end of this year? And what are you willing to do to achieve it? If you start now and focus on your goal everyday it’s really possible for you either achieve or get really close to it. Either way the progress you make will help set the tone for next year. So let’s finish this year off strong!

I remember one year I set a goal of being able to run two miles without stopping. During that time the only running I ever did was an occasional run to the mail box. In the beginning two miles seemed impossible to run, but I continued to work at it until I got stronger. Every time I ran I challenged myself to run a little farther and push a little harder. One day I decided that no matter how tired I felt I would not stop moving my feet and pushing forward. That day was the day I did exactly what I said I would do, and I was able to achieve my goal. Achieving my goal made me feel like I could do anything I set my mind to. I felt a different type of joy and strength and so much hope for the things I would be able to accomplish in the future.

That moment taught me that if I really focus, believe in myself and push I can do so much more. Think about what could happen if you really pushed yourself to finish this year off strong. Imagine the joy, strength, momentum and energy you would feel as you push forward into the new year. It’s not too late to create what you want to see. Think about a time when you pushed yourself and how things turned out better than you expected. It’s the pushing that helps you to finish strong. When you think you’ve done all you can push a little harder. That push could be all you need to get you exactly where you need to be. Don’t give up on your goals!

These are some tips that have help me finish strong:

1.) Focus on accomplishing your goal.

Do something everyday that will help you to get closer to reaching your goal. Plan things out and schedule time for it in your day.

2.) Believe that you can achieve it.

Make up in your mind that you won’t quit until you see the results you are looking for. What you believe you will achieve.

3.) Push yourself

When you feel like you can’t go anymore push yourself a little harder. When you are reaching for something that’s higher it will require you to push harder.

I want to encourage you to finish strong! Just because the past didn’t turn out like you imagined, doesn’t mean the future can’t be better than ever. So keep pushing and work the process. Thanks for reading! I hope this encouraged you.
